One year ago this month I joined Pikes Peak CrossFit. I'd like to say THANK YOU to Dru, Art, and all of the trainers for ignoring me when I whined, "I can't do this" and pushing me to do just 3 more burpees (20 times) when I think I'm going to die. Although my strength and endurance (and pant size) has changed over this past year, I've also experienced great psychological changes. Conquering (or at least finishing) Eva or Barbara or any number of insane work-outs has helped me believe in myself in new ways. So thank you so very much for helping me become a CrossFitter!

Dru,
I am sending this email to express my thanks to the great people I work out with at CrossFit, as well as all the coaches, and Art and Bryan in particular. When I joined your program I was in terrible shape, my back and legs hurt constantly and at 245 lbs I was obese. It's been 10 and a half weeks and I can say that my body has changed dramatically.
When I started, I was certain that the alley behind your gym was uphill. This morning I sprinted it almost effortlessly. My back hasn't hurt all month and I've got the same energy level I had twenty years ago. I've never gotten these kind of results from a workout program before, and I am sincerely grateful.
PS. Most of my friends started asking me what medication or surgery I had. I posted this in response.
"On July 18th I started doing CrossFit and I quit eating bread, pasta, and potatoes. I weighed in at 245 lbs and wanted to weigh 200 by December. Today's weight. 203. No drugs, no potions, and not surgery. It's called CrossFit.. try it."

Hey Dru,
I wanted to express many thanks to all of the trainers. I have seen amazing changes over this past year and a half. When I stared I would dread certain workouts and worry that I would never be able to complete them. As time went on I began to look forward to the day to day challenges and the competition. I would look forward to trying to beat Brandon (19 years old) but I soon realized that just trying to keep close to him was a major achievement in itself. The day to day competition with You, Ben, Brian, Matt, Art, Tim, Mitch, Tom and everyone else is what keeps me coming back for more. Every day is a new challenge and a new accomplishment. It has been amazing to see what huge strides people are making everyday. From Beth's first unbanded pull-up, to Kim's completing a workout completely unbanded, to watching Cybil strive to push out a pound or two above Jenny's match snatch lift. These are just incredible accomplishments. I love the push that everyone gives and the individual words of encouragement to squeeze out that one last rep or to push for that last dash down the alley to the finish line. I really appreciate Carol's watchful eye on keeping my form the best it can be as the fatigue sets in. Thanks again for getting Kim and I involved in CrossFit. We are really looking forward to the move into the new site.
